Our paths crossed in college (Howard University). We had a lot of common ground—same friends, similar extracurriculars, same on-campus fellowship/church. Naturally, we spent a lot of time around each other.

Consistent with the age-old saying, absence did make our hearts grow fonder. The forced separation due to the pandemic made it clear to us that there was more to our relationship. We adapted quickly and leveraged technology to keep in touch despite being states apart. We officially started dating in July 2021.

Jioke proposed at a beautiful vineyard in Napa Valley, CA. Kanyinsola tearfully said yes! She loved the ring, but the promise of forever was even better. We had a good turnout of friends and family to celebrate the occasion with us. Check out our gallery for some of our pictures!

After months of building up to it, we formally introduced each other to our families during the Christmas holidays. The warmth and acceptance from both sides made us realize we had found something special.

From choosing venues to selecting our Aso Ebi colors, planning our wedding has been an adventure in itself. We're learning to compromise, celebrate our cultural traditions, and focus on what truly matters: our love and commitment.
